Gaming World: What Apple has in store to capture its new target? – Part 3
Monday, June 4th, 2012 6:42:39 by Usman KhalidThe biggest hurdle in the success road of these companies the pool of games like Skyrim, Arkham City, Zelda Skyward Sword, BioShock Infinite. Angry Birds is Pacman and Fruit Ninja is Super Mario of the current age. None of these gaming consoles have made a game this trendy after the reign of Super Maria faded.
Moreover, companies like Zynga and Popcap are making fortunes from connected games, another new concept created by Apple. To date, the concept of connected games was only limited to server-based gaming like Call of Duty or Medal of Honour.
However, Zynga and the likes have produced games that connect with social media networks, Facebook for instance. Biggest examples are Draw Something and Words With Friends that have made bulks of money for these developers.
Money is the biggest factor and Apple has it all covered. A game that is available at Nintendo forum for $10, for instance, is cloned for App Store for less than a buck. This makes Apple’s strong presence in the world of gaming.
Now that the New iPad is out in the market with alluring Retina Display, screen quality is not an issue. With AirPlay users can game on big screens as well. The only component remaining is the arrival of games like World of Warcraft.
Apple has one of the biggest developers pool in the world. Hundreds of iOS apps get uploaded every day. Most of them are games, though at a small level, but it can be expected of the company to roll out mid-level games in the recent future. If that happens, Apple might give main stream gaming console manufacturers a run for their money.
Now that Apple CEO has stated that gaming is on the company’s To Do List, let’s see what it brings out the bag.
