Sonam Kapoor clarifies her statement about Katrina Kaif

The Indian actress Sonam Kapoor landed in the middle of a controversy after she called Katrina Kaif ‘shameless’ in an interview with film journalist ‘Anupama Chopra’ in Cannes. However, the actress, who is only five years and seven months old in the Bollywood industry, now says that she has been misinterpreted by the media.

Kapoor wrote on Twitter, “I’m so over being misinterpreted.. How can some select media take a compliment made to someone and make it into a controversy…”

The 26-year-old, who made her debut in 2007 with Sunjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Saawariya’, was present on the sidelines of the recently concluded Cannes film festival and she passed the statement about Katrina while having an interview with HT’s film critic Anupama Chopra, who was simply asking her about the choice of projects.

Kapoor was quoted saying as, “I would like to give Katrina a bouquet of flowers.” When asked why, Sonam said: “I don’t know how she does that. You need a certain kind of commitment and a certain kind of shamelessness to do certain things. You get that may be with stardom or with confidence in your talent or with who you are as a person. I need to develop that before I do films like that.”

During the interview, Chopra also asked Kapoor that why she is known more for her fashion sense than her acting.

The aggressive actress had remarked, “Unfortunately when we talk about movies, there are so many of us who can talk about it. But when it comes to fashion, I guess it’s only me, at the risk of sounding immodest.”

Well, all said and done, this is nothing new when it comes to Sonam Kapoor because she is famously known for her outspoken attitude. She never really thinks twice before speaking her mind. Perhaps she should find a new way to gain the media limelight!
