Akshay Kumar: When my film flops, I don’t wallow in self-pity
Tuesday, June 5th, 2012 4:01:59 by Imran Shaukat KhanActor Akshay Kumar has once again come back under the main lights since he has delivered back to back hits like ‘Houseful 2’ and ‘Rowdy Rathore’, which was released last Friday.
However, the 44-year-old faced a lot of criticism before ‘Houseful 2’ as almost five of his films failed to impress the audiences but when asked about it, Akshay said he never gets bothered with the noises around him.
The actor recently had an interview with hindustantimes, in which he stated every successful person faces failure at some point in his life so there is nothing wrong in it.
The actor said, “So what if four or five of my films didn’t work? Every successful person has faced this kind of negativity. There have been times when Sachin Tendulkar was written off, until he scored a 100 again; then the people criticising him will go ga-ga over him again.”
Directed by Prabhu Deva, ‘Rowdy Rathore’ collected an amount of Rs 15.1 crore on the first day. Nevertheless, instead of celebrating the success, Akshay started shooting for his next home production ‘Khiladi 786’ with Himesh Reshammiya as co-actor and co-producer. Therefore, he was asked about why he doesn’t take any breaks.
The actor replied, “When my film flops, I don’t wallow in self-pity. I continue working. Then why should that change when my film is doing well?”
Akshay is one of the leading Bollywood actors right now yet he says he always feels nervous ahead of his films.
He said, “I started my career with smaller movies, which were called B-grade films. That was my bread and butter, and I have no shame admitting that. Back then, I used to be nervous before every film. Even now, before every release, I feel like I’m appearing for an exam.”
Well, Akshay Kumar returned to the action films after seven years and with the success of ‘Rowdy Rathore’ he has certainly proved that he is the original Khiladi of Indian film industry.
