Sony Entertainment released a new product at E3 seminar that is the 3D simulation of a wonderland on a book. The new game is called the Wonderbook: Book of Spells which will be playable with PlayStation move.
Harry Potter author JK Rowling has been the main character behind the idea. The project Wonderbook was made possible by her close interaction with the Japanese electronics giant. The basic idea behind Wonderbook is Ms. Rowling’s ownership.
“Wonderbook: Book of Spells is the closest a Muggle can come to a real spellbook. I’ve loved working with Sony’s creative team to bring my spells, and some of the history behind them, to life. This is an extraordinary device that offers a reading experience like no other,” said Rowling in a quote provided by Sony.
The game is played with the PlayStation Move sitting in front of the PlayStation 3. The Move works as the magic wand that helps the user in working different spells in the Wonderbook, writer by a fictional writer Miranda Goshawk about 200 years ago.
Though the main theme behind the game is to educate children about the magical world and spells, it is sheer entertainment as the 3D simulation virtually brings life to the spells. As shown in the demo, a girl was able to bring dragon of fire to life with a magic spell, who eventually set the book on fire.
The interesting thing about Wonderbook is that it is not entirely dependent on PlayStation Move. The user can use hands to perform different gestures like putting off the fire and lulling a dragon.
The game works with PlayStation Eye (camera), PlayStation Move, Wonderbook. The Book and its Blu-Ray disc will be available for $39.99 in the US later this month.
