Vidya Balan’s father says he found nothing vulgar in ‘The Dirty Picture’

Actress Vidya Balan is on cloud nine these days and it all happened after she portrayed a strong role of late South Indian sex siren Silk Smitha in Milan Luthria’s film ‘The Dirty Picture’, which was released last year on December 10.

Balan, who bagged her first National Award with ‘The Dirty Picture’, was recently chosen as the brand ambassador of ‘The Melbourne Film Festival’ and not too long ‘Namaste America’, an Indo-American Association for Art and Culture, facilitated her for her contribution in the Indian cinema.

During her felicitation by Namaste America, Vidya said, “I am thankful to them for felicitating me. It is a very special moment. I am overwhelmed. I feel blessed and honoured.”

In the meantime, Balan also remarked that her parents loved the movie as well. In fact on the occasion, Balan’s father P R Balan insisted that he found nothing vulgar in the movie.

“I was in between promotions and when I reached Prithvi theatre they all were crying after watching the film because I died in the end. My parents have approved of the film and nothing matters more to me,” Vidya said.

Vidya Balan, now 34, has recently done a Lavani item number for the upcoming film ‘Ferrari Ki Sawari’.

Though almost everyone has liked her performance in a nine-yard sari, many out there are criticising the actress on her figure. Nevertheless, Balan is completely unfazed with all the noises around her, as she believes women should have a curvy body.

At a press conference for a diet snack, she said, “I’m all for the Indian woman’s curvaceous body and I’m happy the way I am.”

She added, “I don’t think I’ll ever consciously try and change my body unless I need to for a film.”

Balan commented about her song as well.

Vidya said, “The song is looking nice because I really enjoyed shooting for the song. I’ve always wanted to do a lavani number.”
