Sourabh Varma, an impressive player from India, played remarkable badminton in Men’s Singles first round when he thrashed Sukamta Evert of Indonesia at the Thailand Open 2012 in Bangkok, on Wednesday, June 6.
Sourabh, who has been positioned at number 12 in Men’s Singles main draw of Thailand Open, put up phenomenal show of top quality badminton and slaughtered his rival in a one-sided fashion by ending the contest in two sets.
The in-form Sourabh was impressive in his display of elevated skills in the court as he faced no considerable trouble from his rival and easily won the battle.
In contrast, the Indonesian was had no answer to the perfect stroke placement and powerful smashes of his Indian opponent and bowed down to him without putting up good show.
In the first game, both shuttlers played wonderful badminton in starting rallies but it was the Indian who showed his class by taking the control of rallies and managed to take a wonderful lead until the mid-game break.
After the one-minute break, Sukamta tried to play fast and positive badminton but failed to put up strong show as his Indian rival was everywhere in the court.
The Indian remained on track without dropping his speed at any stage in the game and remained successful in grabbing the opening set with in a one-sided fashion by a 21-11 score on the board.
In second game, the Indonesian played slightly better badminton but again failed to match the perfection and speed of his Indian challenger.
On the other hand, Sourabh remained calm in the court as he showed no sign of confusion at any stage and established an impressive gap on the score board until the one-minute break.
After the break, the Indian continued impressing the crowd by keeping the pace at the maximum level. He did not spare any chance for Sukamta to find his way back into the game.
The in-form Indian lived up to expectations and took the second game with a stunning margin of 21-12.
Sourabh won this battle in two games of 36 minutes with a margin of 21-11 and 21-12.
