Nan Wei, an emerging shuttler from Hong Kong, showed his elite class against Malaysia’s Chong Wei Feng in Men’s Singles round-of-16 at the Thailand Open 2012 on Thursday, June 7, in Bangkok
The in-form Nan, who has been showing his brilliance for the last one year by putting up superb show of top quality badminton in different events, stamped his mark over the eighth seeded Wei Feng in an impressive fashion.
The Hong Kong shuttlers was impressive in his strategy in the court and he did not show any mercy to the Malaysian and wrapped up victory in a sensational fashion by ending up the fight in straight sets with a comprehensive score on the board.
The higher ranked Wei Feng, on the other hand, could not show his elite skills while playing against Nan and lost to him in two games without creating a strong impact on the local crowd.
In the first set Wei Feng started his campaign in a passionate way as he played aggressive badminton and managed an early lead of 5-1.
Nevertheless, Nan geared up his speed and found his momentum and remained successful in ending the lead of his rival.
Nan was leading the opening game with a small difference of 11-9 on the score board.
After the one-minute break, Wei Feng played well and levelled the score by showing his aggression. The score was 13-13 when Nan took over the control and managed to bag the first set with a superb margin of 21-15.
In the second game, Nan showed his class from the opening points and established a remarkable lead of 11-5 until the one-minute interval.
The confused Wei Feng put in everything he had in the game and managed to level the score at 12-12. However, the Hong Kong shuttler again occupied the driving seat by executing attacking shots and took the set with a 21-18 score on the board.
The impressive Nan registered an amazing straight-set victory over Wei Feng in just 34 minutes with a convincing 21-15 and 21-18 score on the board.
