Mazda Miata PRHT Touring/Grand Touring/Special Edition (2012): Full Review – Part 1
Thursday, June 7th, 2012 5:34:05 by Usman KhalidMazda Motors unleashed a new sports car, Mazda Miata 2012 PRHT that even at trim level offers a pure ride and a grippy control in the corners.
Though the cabin tech is a turnoff for most part, the engine and mechanical aspects make is the top choice for those who want more sports car in less money. The overall structure and the Power-Retractable Hard Top (PRHT) give a noiseless drive despite the beast trapped inside the hood.
The engine clocked at 2.0-Litre piston capacity is not the top notch power source but considering the weight of the vehicle, it surely takes the car into blistering speeds in an instant.
The chassis and the whole shebang weight just under 2600 pounds and the 2.0-Litre engine produces enough power to speed up instantly and take control while snaking through the corners.
There are three versions of the Miata, Touring, Grand Touring and Special Edition. The latter is only 450 in number, available in the US. However, aside from a sports suspension there are unnoticeable differences in the basic Touring and Special Edition models.
The Miata 2012 is available in two colours, Velocity Red and Pearl White. The wing mirrors and the alloy wheel rims are all painted in gun metal black to give it a high contrast shade in the white paint job. The Special Edition has a premium paint job done on the body work.
The hard top is also painted in glossy pitch black but all the black and white combination does not give a zebra look to the car.
The price is low at $30,000 with all the packages availed in the Special Edition but it taxes the cabin tech, which for most part frustrate the driver as it lacks some of the basic necessities needed in a car these days.
