Top Spanish duo confirm their participation for Beijing 500 series ATP event

Rafael Nadal and David Ferrer, have committed to the China Open, an ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) World Tour 500 series event taking place in Beijing, China.
The China Open is held at the Beijing Olympic Green Tennis Center, built especially for the 2008 Olympic Games, from 23rd September to 7th October. With the announcement of the 10-time Grand Slam champion Nadal and his compatriot committing to play here, it
will be a double treat for the Chinese fans to watch today’s semi-final clash between the two contenders.
Tournament Director, Alfred Zhang was quoted in a press-conference, "its great news for both the tournament and the fans that Nadal and Ferrer are going to play at the National Tennis Center. Nadal always plays excellent tennis in Beijing and we are excited
that he is coming back as he has lots of fans here. And as one of the ATP’s top players, Ferrer will provide strong competition as he looks to win his first title here at the China Open."
The king of clay, Nadal, made his debut at the China Open in 2005 and displayed his top notch performance to conquer the event. He then returned to Beijing at the 2008 Olympics and with his flawless presentation of skills, Nadal grabbed a gold medal. His most
recent entry at this 500 series event was two years ago when he made a semi-final showing.
Currently ranked sixth in the South African Airways ATP World Tour Rankings, Ferrer on the other hand has played this tournament three times. He has yet to win a title at this tournament while his best performance was securing a title-round berth in 2010 (lost
to Novak Djokovic).
With the earlier announcement of the French number one, Tsonga, joining the list at this hard court tournament, three of the top-six players are confirmed.
Nadal will accompany the world number five, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, in the commercial for this event which was shot last month in Spain.
"The China Open shoot was a good experience and I was glad that I was able to be in it for all my Chinese fans," said the Spanish number one.
