Panasonic TC-PVT50 (2012): Full Review – Part 2

Three-dimensional content aside, the new VT50 has the best content availability and picture quality with a lot of options to customize. The TV has a thinner bezel and even thinner waist, which makes it a good choice to be mounted on the wall.

Design

Though not much has changed in the shape of this new appliance, the VT50 is thinner than the step-down ST50. The new television has a thinner bezel and is more attractive than most of the competition in the market.

However, its ugly stand that has an even uglier two-colour combination, forces a desire to wall mount the TV than any other set in the market, which in a way is a positive thinking from Panasonic.

Panasonic, for the last two years, has been manufacturing televisions with a single glass sheet that covers the front from edge to edge. This protects the borders and the thin bezel and makes them graphical than physical.

All the necessary controls, power, menu, input, channel up/down and volume up/down are at the rear side of the bottom left edge. All the cinch ports and HDMI, USB ports are right behind the screen.

There are two remote controls for the television, one traditional looking and the other with less buttons and one touch-pad at the top for scrolling and moving the cursor. But more on that in the next section.

Features

The Smart TV’s software Viera Cast makes its appearance in the VT50. The operating system-cum-control menu sustains the outlook and colour scheme from last year. Though this looks monotonous, it is efficient, and that what is direly needed when it comes to smart televisions.
