Mac Rumours: Apple expected to deliver new line of MacBook Pro and Air at WWDC 2012 – Part 1
Monday, June 11th, 2012 5:14:05 by Usman KhalidApple’s Worldwide Developers’ Conference is just around the corner and many are speculating new line of MacBook’s at the event. Most probably Apple CEO Tim Cook will be presiding on the first day of the conference.
Though no iPhone 5 is expected to take the stage, Mac OS X Mountain Lion and iOS 6 is expected shore up as well, with the new MacBooks. Of late, new iOS devices have become synonymous to the WWDC, staged in June. It still has been less than a year since the arrival of iPhone 4S, the company’s latest iteration of the flagship smartphone, therefore, the iPhone 5 is not in the wish list this summer.
However, the MacBooks are no less than desired at the WWDC. It has been more than two years since the last major revamp to the notebook line. Though the performance has increased with the second-generation Sandy Bridge processors since 2009, the design department has been working idle.
Among others, the design of the notebooks is also in the wish list to be fulfilled by the Cupertino giants. Though it is the last thing desired from Apple, it has become custom of the company to stick to a design until unless its oomph wears off.
A lot has happened in the last six months. NVIDIA launched its new line of graphics cards, Intel launched the new line of third-generation of Ivy Bridge processors and a slew of new ultrabooks have hoarded the computer market.
The reason why WWDC is touted nothing else but the stage to release new MacBooks is that it has been six months into 2012 and there is no new laptop from Apple to be seen anywhere. Though people love iPads and iPhones but there are some needs that these mobile devices cannot fulfil, one of them is personal computing as opposed to mobile computing.
Moreover, the release of new 3rd generation of processors from Intel has increased the pressure on Apple products to come at par with the likes of HP, Lenovo and Dell, needless to mention the likes of Razer and Alienware.
