Ashley Evans and Kevin Quinn dominate prelims – Mutual of Omaha Swimvitational

Ashley Evans and Kevin Quinn dominated the preliminary rounds of 200m butterfly in Women and Men’s category at the 2012 Mutual of Omaha Swimvitational in Nebraska.

Evans demonstrated her stupendous efforts in the distant butterfly discipline and entered the final round as fastest swimmer. Her fascinating efforts remained nearly two body lengths ahead of her following swimmer and transpired on the finishing end with
the timing of 2 minutes and 17.47 seconds.

Her fastest qualification effort was trailed by Erin Campbell, who stayed almost two seconds behind and hit the finishing wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 19.22 seconds.

Third fastest qualification spot of the race was secured by Meredith King, who stayed 0.22 seconds slower and settled on the finishing end with an effort of 2 minutes and 19.44 seconds.

Following that, the crowd witnessed gruelling efforts of Quinn in the Men’s equivalent event. His impressive performance remained one and a half body length faster from his closest competitor as he emerged on the finishing end with the timing of 2 minutes
and 03.91 seconds.

He was chased by Marcus Guttmann, who was 1.60 seconds slower and made his way to the final round for second best qualification spot with the timing of 2 minutes and 05.51 seconds.

Guttmann was followed by Stephen Yemm, who stayed 0.22 seconds apart and earned his way into the playoff by reporting a time of 2 minutes and 05.73 seconds.

Afterwards, Ashley Wanland upset her challengers by occupying first position in the prelims of Women’s 100m breaststroke.

Wanland served notice of her talent in the two-lap race as she sprinted her way towards the finishing wall for first position with the timing of 1 minute and 09.40 seconds.

Her scintillating effort was chased by Ann Chandler, who stayed almost 0.80 seconds behind and secured second best qualification spot of the event with the timing of 1 minute and 10.21 seconds.

Similarly, Chandler enjoyed a benefit of 0.19 seconds over Amanda Beard, who qualified into the playoff as third fastest swimmer by clocking a time of 1 minute and 10.40 seconds.

Furthermore, the session ended after the conclusion of all planned events in Men and Women’s category.
