West Indian skipper Darren Sammy is expecting his side to beat England in the upcoming One Day International (ODI) series after finishing the Test series on a high note. After losing first two Tests, the Caribbean team was short of confidence, but did well
in the final game.

Although rain washed out three of the five days of the Test, West Indies’ massive first innings total of 426 runs gave the players a lot of confidence. While Denesh Ramdin scored a wonderful century, Marlon Samuels added stylish 76 runs. Tino Best also played
a record breaking innings of 95 runs and became the highest scorer as Test match No. 11.

Sammy is delighted to see his side doing a great job and with Dwayne Bravo and Chris Gayle back in the side, he believes the Caribbean side has an obvious chance of defeating England.

“Everybody’s really excited about this one-day series and everybody believes we should beat England. We are quite confident as a one-day team." Sammy said.

He added, "When Ottis came on board, we set goals and as a one-day team, looking to win the 2015 World Cup (in Australia and New Zealand), that’s possible. In Test cricket, where you need a lot of concentration, it might take more time for us to get back
and win games consistently because we’ve been losing at that level for a long time."

The West Indian skipper was disappointed over his team’s 2-0 loss in the Test series, but said that there are plenty of positives to draw out. On his side’s reasonable show in the Test series, he said:

"Looking at the three Test matches, we scored over 320 (in an innings in each Test) with our top order not contributing. To do that was a plus for us."

Samuels, who scooped the Man of the Series award following his tremendous performance, was also happy with his team’s good show in the final game.

"We said we would come here with a never-say-die attitude and that last-wicket partnership was just a perfect example. It was great to watch, and on that same flat wicket, we got five wickets," the all-rounder shared.
