Will the new MacBook Pro (2012) be a powerful gaming laptop? – Part 1
Tuesday, June 12th, 2012 5:50:17 by Usman KhalidThere is a simple recipe for a gaming laptop, a killer graphics card, sharp display and a high-end processor. The new iteration of CPUs from Intel, tipped as Ivy Bridge before the release, and the release of new graphics cards from NVIDIA are making it all possible for gaming companies to release notebooks capable of playing desktop-only high-end games.
However, there are more things to a gaming laptop that we probably did not know or desired prior to the release of the new MacBook Pro from Apple. Though it is not marketed as a gaming laptop and Apple has never indulge itself into the gaming industry, the new MacBook is all that is needed for a gaming laptop.
A top of the line processor, Core i7; lots of RAM, 8 GB expandable to 16 GB and graphics card from NVIDIA is all that a gamer would need to play a high-end game. However, there are three/four things that other companies have neglected or were unable to achieve so far.
The screen resolution of these laptops maxes out at full HD 1080p, 1920×1080. Some would say that it is more than enough for a game to be played in full HD. However, wait until you get your hands on the new MacBook Pro that has a native resolution of 2880×1800 on a 15.4-inch wide screen display. That is way beyond the resolution of any HDTV or a gaming laptop. The new Pro has pixel density of 220 pixels per inch, which is densest in any laptop or HDTV with more than 5 million pixels in total.
Even on a 65-inch display you will not see at denser resolution than the MacBook Pro. That is the quality which will definitely make the new Pro a sweetheart of gamers.
Then comes the foot print and handiness of a device. The new MacBook Pro might not be the slimmest laptop in the market right now but it surely is the thinnest in gaming and professional category at 0.71-inch depth. That makes it the handiest of all the professional laptops that are deemed to be carried around for work.
