Karachi: (Tuesday, June 12, 2012) A Pakistani fighter jet crashed in Balochistan today while on routine training flight. However, the pilot succeeded in ejecting safely and according to an air force official, there were no casualities on ground either.
According to the details shared by Squadron Leader Mohammad Nadeem, the French-built Mirage jet took off from PAF Masroor Air Base in Karachi and crashed about 60 km away from the base near the Uthal town in Southwestern Balochistan province.
While stating that the reasons of the accident could only be shared after thorough investigation, the spokesman said that, “The pilot ejected successfully and safely.” He further said that no loss of civilian life or property was reported on ground.
Sadly, it was the second Mirage that fell in the region in a month’s time. In a similar incident, a Mirage-V crashed on May 11 while its pilot ejected safely.
