Imran Khan swears he didn’t takes money from Malik Riaz
Wednesday, June 13th, 2012 4:42:14 by Faisal FarooqChairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan has swore that he didn’t take money from Malik Riaz, the real estate tycoon.
While talking to the media persons, the cricket-turned-politician noted, “I swear by the Quran that I have not taken any money from Malik Riaz or Bahria Town”.
He, however, said that chief justice’s son Arsalan Chaudhry should be penalized if found guilty.
Extending his support to the judiciary, he said that he would standby by the Supreme Court of Pakistan, adding that conspiracies against the Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry were being hatched for the last few years.
In a separate statement, the chairman PTI said that the sequence of events clearly shows that the target of entire conspiracy was the Chief Justice of Pakistan, Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry.
In his view, the revelations coming out in Arslan Iftikhar case clearly show a deliberate attempt to undermine the superior judiciary.
He observed, “He is just a pawn in the hands of the corrupt Zardari/Gilani cabal ruling the country that is threatened by an independent judiciary. It has long been seeking to undermine it in whatever way possible”.
The statement from former cricketer came a day after Malik Riaz, the powerful real estate tycoon, leveled severe charges against the judiciary, particularly Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry.
The former cricketer was of the opinion that the chief justice had taken the right thing by deciding not to hear the case against his son.
“The truth will surely come out. But, facts reported in the media clearly show that Riaz Malik’s intent was not to buy influence but only to compromise the Chief Justice’s son and use this later to defame the judiciary”, he added.
A few days ago, former federal minister Dr Sher Afgan Niazi claimed that Imran Khan topped the list of beneficiaries who had taken monetary benefits from Malik Riaz.
