Priyanka Chopra: Bollywood has always been a male-dominant society
Wednesday, June 13th, 2012 12:17:25 by Imran Shaukat KhanBollywood actress and former Miss World Priyanka Chopra will be seen playing a lead role opposite to actor Shahid Kapoor in Kunal Kholi’s upcoming film ‘Teri Meri Kahanni’ on June 22 and she is really excited about her upcoming film.
Chopra, now 29, had made her first appearance in three days in Singapore. Chopra, who was slated to perform at the awards function on Saturday, shared her thoughts with the media on her upcoming movie.
The actress said that she is very happy to have survived in the Bollywood industry with her head up. Priyanka insisted Bollywood has always been a male-dominant society and there is no security for women in it. However, Piggy Chops admitted the fact that in the past ten years Bollywood has evolved a bit.
“There is no security and guarantee about how long you will survive in the industry. It has always been a male-dominated industry, but I am glad to have survived on my own. I have learnt from my mistakes. I fell down, picked myself up, dusted off and moved ahead. Even when I was doing Aitraaz, there were people who told me, ‘Don’t be silly’, but I did the film. And even Fashion was another film that people doubted and the results are for everyone to see. I think over the past couple of years our industry has evolved and is more accepting about women actors,” the actress said.
‘Teri Meri Kahaani’ is a Hindi romance drama film and Priyanka stressed that she loved her role in the movie since she is quite romantic in real life as well.
She said, “I am absolutely die-hard, bone-crushingly crazy about love and romance. I believe in love. It makes your world go round. I also believe that there is someone made for you. Everyone has a soulmate, whether you end up living with him or no, is a different question!”
Well, all said and done, let’s see if the film does a good business at the box office.
