It had been more than four years since the MacBook Pro saw a major revamp to its design. It was about time that Apple released a new Pro with a new shape and aesthetics. Though the company has been late in adopting new technology from Intel but it has regularly updated the innards with latest processors, like the Fall version came with the Sandy Bridge processors from Intel.

The new MacBook Pro has simple been a cross-breed of the previous Pro and Air. It is as professional as last Pro and as slim as the Air, at least on the thicker side of the tapered design.

At 0.71 inches, it is not thinnest of laptops but as a desktop replacement, it surely makes a bang in the market place. Gone is 16:9 screen ratio, comes in the new and broader 16:10 ratio, though there is no reason fathomable for such a step taken by the company. It is 14.1 inches in length and 9.7 inches width.

The screen measures 15.4 inches diagonally and the bezel is thinner than the last version of the Pro. However, what shouts out loud is enclosed inside the bezel. The screen has an unprecedented 2880×1800 resolution, amassing more than 5 million pixels to make up the Retina Display. At 220 pixels per inch, the user will not be able to discern pixels from one another at a working distance.

The new MacBook Pro is port-studded with, new to the Pro line, USB 3.0 and HDMI. Accompanying them are a couple of Thunderbolt I/O ports, SD card reader and MegaSafe charging slot that is redesign to fit in the slim body. However, the magnetic socket works as fine as the last one.

At 4.46 pounds it is not as light as it looks but that is not the only drawback in the device. The slim structure shaves off the optical drive and with it goes away the FireWire and Ethernet ports. However, that’s the extent of it.
