Spanish side, Team Movistar is having an outstanding season with as many as 20 victories already in its bag.
The team is now only one win behind its total victories in the past season and we have not yet crossed the first half of the season.
Rui Costa wins the Tour de Suisse overall classifications while Nairo Quintana successfully defended his overall lead at the Route du Sud.
Quintana was over the moon after registering his third overall victory of the season and thanked his team-mates for their nonstop support during the French event.
The 22-year also holds two stages in his bag including a stage 1 win at the Vuelta a Murcia and a stage 3 victory at the Route du Sud.
He secured an overall victory at the Vuelta a Murcia and Criterium du Dauphine to mark a perfect start to his 2012 campaign.
While commenting on the final stage of the race Nairo briefed that the final stage was much easier than he thought and his colleagues played an important role in helping him through the finish line.
“This victory is for everyone who has always supported me and made reaching this point possible for me”.
“To be honest, the stage was calmer than what we expected. Without a doubt, the huge toughness of yesterday’s stage had a big effect on the bunch today”.
“We weren’t riding fast at the last climb, but the speed got a bit faster and people were dropping behind”.
“That was the sign that there was very little energy left after the previous day”.
Hubert Dupont of Team AG2R La Mondiale finished second with a deficit of 48 seconds on the race leader.
Anthony Charteau of Team Europcar, Kenny Elissonde of Team FDJ-BigMat and Mathieu Perget of Team AG2R La Mondiale holds the third, the fourth and the fifth positions respectively.
On the other hand, Rui Costa helped the side with an overall victory at the Tour de Suisse and restricted his major opponents.
Frank Schleck’s desperation continuous as the Luxembourg cyclist settles down for the second overall position with a total deficit of 14 seconds.
Levi Leipheimer of Team Omega Pharma-Quickstep, Robert Gesink of Team Rabobank and Mikel Nieve Ituralde of Team Euskaltel-Euskadi hold the third, the fourth and the fifth positions respectively.
