Juliane Schenk, the top shuttler of Germany, powered her way into Women’s Singles quarter-final after toppling India’s upcoming player P. V. Sindhu in pre-quarter-final battle at the 2012 Indonesia Open Premier Super Series on Thursday, June 14, in Indonesia.
Schenk, who is World Number 7 and seeded at the eighth position in Women’s Singles draw of the tournament showed her highly impressive skills and thrashed her India rival with a wonderful margin on the score board.
The higher ranked Schenk was on a completely different level while fighting against her Indian opponent and she took just 33 minutes in the court to end up the fight in straight games with a huge margin.
The lower ranked Sindhu, on the other hand, could not handle the aggression of her German opponent and she remained struggling in the court in the whole match. She failed to dictate the pace of rallies and eventually lost to Schenk without showing her brilliance.
Sindhu started her run positively and also took an early lead but failed to stop her rival from catching up the score.
The in-form Schenk geared up her speed and managed to take a small lead of 11-9 over her Indian challenger until the mid-game interval.
After the one-minute break, it was Schenk who showed her brilliance by changing her tactics in the court and played with tremendous control.
The eighth seeded Schenk’s shot selection was impressive and she did not take much time in winning the opening game with a comfortable margin of 21-14.
In the following set, Schenk maintained her upper hand in the court by playing at the same speed and again managed a three-point advantage of 11-8 until the interval.
After the break, Sindhu tried to catch up the score but failed to match the pace of rallies as Schenk did not slow down the pace.
Schenk continued her commanding run throughout the ending half of second set and remained successful in grabbing it with a remarkable score of 21-14.
The seeded Germany lady grabbed victory in this pre-quarter-final contest in straight games with a one-sided 21-14 and 21-14 score on the board.
