Islamabad: Pakistan’s tope military and civilian leadership has gathered together in Islamabad to discuss the security matters, including restoration of the NATO supply routes for international forces in Afghanistan after United
States of America appeared to be having a comparatively softened stance on offering an apology over the last year’s salala check post attacks.
According to the details, the high level officials marking their participation in the meeting constituted president Asif Ali Zardari, prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, Chief of the Army staff General Ashfaq Parvaiz Kayani and
the Inter Services Intelligence head lt. General Zaheerul Islam.
Foreign minister Hina Rabbani Khar, who had been to Kabul to attend a summit on Thursday, also attended the meeting held at the president house.
Officially, there were only little details of the meeting that were released. However, the sources informed that the participants of the meeting thoroughly dwelled onto different aspects of Pakistan US relations with a focus on
reopening the NATO supply routes.
In the meeting, President Zardari also briefed the participants about his recent visit to China where he also attended the Shanghai Cooperation Organization’s gathering.
According to the sources, a decision on reopening of the NATO supply routes will be taken soon.
