Huma Qureshi: I think you don’t have to be size zero to prove yourself!
Saturday, June 16th, 2012 4:31:40 by Imran Shaukat KhanAfter the likes of Vidya Balan and Sonakshi Sinha, the newbie Huma Qureshi has also opposed the ‘size-zero’ concept, as she believes one should be able to impress the audiences with their acting and not with their figure.
Qureshi has worked in theatre productions and television advertisements but now she is all set for her first Bollywood ride with Anurag Kashyap’s upcoming film ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’, which is scheduled to hit the cinemas on June 22.
While sharing her thoughts in an interview with TOI, the actress insisted that she does not have to be size zero to connect with the audiences and she is totally against the concept.
“I think you don’t have to be size zero to prove yourself…to connect with the audience. It should be like the audience should enjoy the film. And if you can provide that enjoyment with the way you are then nothing like it,” Huma told PTI.
“In school I was always a fat girl. No matter how thin you are but girls always have this thing in mind that I am a little fat,” Huma quipped.
In the meantime, Qureshi stated that these days filmmakers like Kashyap are not easy to find. She said he doesn’t have any weight issues at all and all he wants from her is dedication and hard work.
“I remember during an ad shoot Anurag said to me that you are doing my film, and I was wondering do we really get films so easily. I thought you have to struggle and all. But he kept his word and offered me ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’. All this is like a boon,” the actor said.
Well, all said and done, now we have three actresses who have opposed the ‘size-zero’ concept.
Nevertheless, the ultimate diva of the Bollywood industry, Kareena Kapoor, is the one who doesn’t agree with these three because she thinks any woman who says she doesn’t like being thin lies!
