MacBook Pro with Retina Display: Over priced and hard to find – Part 2
Saturday, June 16th, 2012 4:02:16 by Usman KhalidAnother reason why the Apple product is not sparsely available in the market is that it is available in only two denominations and both are 15-inch versions. The base model with a quad-core Core i7 Ivy Bridge CPU, clocked at 2.3 GHz, is available at $2199 and the high-end device with the same processor, clocked a 2.6 GHz, is up for grabs at $2799.
Both iterations are overpriced even for a less-than-inch laptop with the densest display in the world. However, its productivity is what it makes everybody come to the Apple Store even for a sight of it, and some of the stores do not even have display units.
The other way to get the MacBook Pro is to order online but that is a conundrum in its own being. The online store gives a tentative time of three to four weeks before the notebook arrive at the doorstep. The wait is a killer but in the case of Apple products, the sensation is quadrupled.
One way or the other, if someone wants to get a handle on the new MacBook Pro, he/she will have to exercise two things for sure, patience and wait. Even if you want to get it fastest way possible right now, it is camp out in front of an Apple store and wait for your turn, which will take hours if not days.
The other and more respectable way is to sit at home, spin some pop corns in the microwave, order the new Pro online and watch some movie or something. It will be a while before the new notebook arrives at your house but something should divert your attention from seeing the Retina Display on a laptop.
In the meantime make do with your current MacBook.
