Prime Minister urges civil servants to show impartiality
Saturday, June 16th, 2012 3:17:27 by Faisal FarooqPrime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani on Saturday urged the civil servants to demonstrate uprightness, discipline and impartiality to serve cause of the nation.
Speaking to a ceremony at the Civil Servant Academy, the premier said the civil servants need to promote courage to stand up to the political pressure and take steps to purge the menace of corruption from the civil service which has badly tainted its image.
The prime minister claimed that the incumbent has made a paradigm shift in the political landscape by introducing the politics of consensus, adding it has succeeded in transforming the political divide in the country into a culture of harmony and accommodation.
He noted, “Our mission to achieve consensus on all issues of national interest will continue despite various factors which are usual in a democratic dispensation”.
He was of the opinion that the federation has been strengthened by the restoration of 1973 Constitution back to its true form, adding that the passage of 18th, 19th and 20th amendments have brought back the country to the parliamentary system.
In his view, the federating units have been empowered in the real sense to greater provincial autonomy and with devolution of powers to them.
Taking credit of the all situation he added, “Today‚ all provinces enjoy unprecedented freedom in the decision making‚ administrative operations as well as the financial matters”.
Besides providing jobs to Baloch people, he said, the government was also working on a programme to provide vocational training to them. The government, he informed, was taking effective steps to remove the sense of deprivation of Balochistan province.
The premier remarked, “The government is aware of the aspirations of the people of south Punjab and is committed to this cause. We are working on ways and means to materialize this demand into reality in accordance with the aspiration of the people of the area”.
Commenting on economic milestones, the prime minister said the financial policies of the government have ensured economic stability. In his view, the country’s foreign exchange reserves were over 18 billion dollars and their exports have increased up to 25 billion dollars.
He anticipated that the inflation will be decreased to 9.5 per cent. The incumbent added 3400 MW to system while initiated numerous short, medium, and long term projects.
