Miyu Otsuka and Luca Marin captured gold medals of the 400m Individual Medley (IM) in Women and Men’s category at the 2012 Sette Colli Meet in Italy.
Otsuka enjoyed an advantage of nearly two body lengths over her closest swimmer and clocked a timing of 4 minutes and 38.73 seconds.
Her title claiming effort remained 2.15 seconds faster from Stefania Pirozzi of Italy, who proved her eligibility for silver medal of the discipline by producing a time of 4 minutes and 40.88 seconds.
Third position of the discipline was secured by Izumi Kato of Japan, who was almost one body length apart and made her way to the medal rostrum with an effort of 4 minutes and 41.82 seconds.
Following that, the audience witnessed wonderful efforts of Marin in the Men’s equivalent event.
He continued his nerve wrecking form throughout the discipline and transpired on the finishing end with the timing of 4 minutes and 12.04 seconds for gold medal.
The champion remained 0.42 seconds slower from Hagino, who made his way to the finishing end for second position by submitting a time of 4 minutes and 12.46 seconds.
The silver medallist was followed by Federico Turrini of Italy, who stayed nearly four seconds apart and proved his mettle for bronze medal of the event by clocking a time of 4 minutes and 16.18 seconds.
Next was the Women’s 100m freestyle final, where Ranomi Kromowidjojo obtained the title of the event. She remained comfortably ahead of her opponents throughout the discipline and hit the finishing wall with the timing of 54.30 seconds.
The gold medallist was chased by Sarah Sjoestrom of Sweden, who stayed 1.21 seconds behind and stepped on the medal rostrum for silver medal by producing a time of 54.30 seconds.
Third position of the discipline was secured by Therese Alshammar of Sweden, who was 0.15 seconds away from overpowering the second position holder and clocked an effort of 54.45 seconds.
Furthermore, the championship ended after the conclusion of all planned events in Men and Women’s corner.
