Red Bull Racing looking to Valencia for another victory
Sunday, June 17th, 2012 5:30:00 by Kashif KhanRed Bull may not be dominating like they did in 2011 but they are still in contention of the Championship title.
Sebastian Vettel the defending champion did not have the perfect start to the season but has managed to give consistent performances and remain at the top of rankings. Vettel is placed third behind Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso.
The competitiveness of the season has been so high that the points difference between the top three positions is almost meaningless. Hamilton is only two points ahead of second placed Alonso and Vettel only one point behind the Spaniard.
The season has completed seven Grands Prix and so far there have been seven different winners and no repeat winners. It shows just how unpredictable 2012 has remained.
After Jenson Button won the opening race in Australia it was being predicted that McLaren will be the team to beat in the season but after quarter of the season passed there is no clear favourite. Even in the drivers’ Championship the top six drivers would still feel that they have a good chance of contending for the title.
Teams like Lotus, Mercedes and even Sauber has shown that they are capable of challenging top teams. Ross Brawn felt that the reason for this is the FIA’s regulations changes that has disallowed teams to have any undue advantage over other teams and the technologies used by teams are more or less the same.
The next Grand Prix is to be held in Valencia which is another street circuit that means it is another complex track that will need strong focus from drivers to finish without any incidents. In Monaco there were nine drivers who were not able to finish their race.
The track will also be slow and hard for overtaking and Mercedes and Ferrari will be the two teams to watch out for as they performed well at Monaco. Mercedes will be especially strong if Schumacher how has raced many times on the track gets to finish the race without any incidents or errors from his team.
Red Bull’s Mark Webber won the Monaco race and will be looking to be the first driver to do a repeat win in the season but it will take a lot out of the Aussie to win at Valencia.
