‘Rowdy Rathore’ team yet to decide on the plans for a sequel
Monday, June 18th, 2012 2:44:09 by Imran Shaukat KhanAkshay Kumar’s ‘Rowdy Rathore’, which was directed by Prabhu Deva, has garnered over Rs. 100 crore at the box office and while the movie is still running its dream, there are a lot of noises in the air that perhaps the plans of a sequel may soon be under way.
When the co-producer of the movie and the CEO of UTV Motion Pictures’, Siddharth Roy Kapoor, was contacted to in order to confirm the news, he didn’t rule out the possibility either. However, Kapoor insisted that things will only be finalized when all Bhansali, Deva and Akshay will agree.
“You know, there are a lot of interesting thoughts about what we should be doing – sequel, prequel, etc. But I think it’s important for Sanjay (Bhansali), Prabhu Deva and us to really sit down and discuss on what we do and obviously along with Akshay take a call on what’s next,” the 37-year-old said Friday night at the success bash of the film.
‘Rowdy Rathore’ has been liked by almost everyone out there. Nevertheless, it feels as if Vidhu Vinod Chopra, an Indian director, screenwriter and producer, didn’t like the movie at all, as he indirectly took a dig at it a few days back by saying that these days rubbish films are also making Rs. 100 crore at the BO.
When Kapoor was asked to react on the statement, he said: “I really don’t have any comment.”
Though Kapoor didn’t say anything, the film’s lead actor Akshay had something to say on it.
“I feel that whatever he wanted to say, he said. But I have watched ‘Ferrari Ki Sawaari’ and I liked that,” he said.
Meanwhile, the co-producer Sanjay Leela Bhansali was nonchalant as well.
“He (Chopra) is my mentor. If he said something, I am happy,” he said.
Well, all said and done, let’s see if the filmmakers really decide to make a sequel of this movie because it has certainly been liked by the people.
