The police personnel having a waistline of more than 38 inches would be sent to police lines until they reduce their pet bellies, he added.

The report noted, “Warning letters have been sent to 14,731 police personnel with the advice to reduce their bellies before July 1.The source said that the Punjab IGP has advised all police officials, including those in the ranks of DSP and above, but the concerned authorities separated themselves from the fitness test”.
Nabila Ghazanfar, the spokesperson of the department, said police personnel were joining gyms, jogging and doing other exercise, including a lot of running to become thin and slim.
She added, “Overweight officers are ineffective and cannot chase bandits, robbers and other criminals properly. We have a shortage of personnel, what can you expect when one official is doing the job of six people? They don’t get time for physical fitness”.
Although, all police personnel, particularly station house officers (SHOs), are making efforts to reduce their waistlines, but most of them have no control over their pot-bellies.
Pakistan is ranked 165 of 194 on the Forbes list of fattest countries, with 22.2 per cent of the population considered overweight despite immense poverty faced by millions in the country.

orcing them to exercise is a great move. Exercise is addictive. Once you start, you love the high and do even more, and work to maintain your fitness. It’ll be great to see fit and buff police officers. Good move.
