Prime Minister Gilani vows to fight against anti-government conspiracies
Monday, June 18th, 2012 9:07:50 by Faisal FarooqPrime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani vowed to fight against conspiracies being hatched against the government, saying that they will foil all such attempts with the help of masses.
While speaking to the media, he stated that certain elements had begun anti-government campaigns after they had come into power, back in 2008.
He pledged unconditional support for democracy saying, “No one will be allowed to derail democracy as long as Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) is in power and everyone should respect the country’s institutions”.
The premier while taking a jab at the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leadership stated that the PPP was fighting for rights of the masses when the opposition leaders had left the country in a critical condition.
He informed that almost 100, 000 new employments opportunities will be created through the implementation of the 2012/13 budget. All government employees who had been fired during Nawaz Sharif’s and Pervez Musharraf’s era, he added.
The prime minister said that he would visit every division of the province, announcing developmental projects would be started in every corner of the country.
He also highlighted the efforts of the incumbent, especially in the economy and energy sector.
Gilani noted, “So far, we have added 3,400 megawatt of power to the national grid and initiated the Thar coal project, the 4,500MW-Diamir Basha, 4,320 MW-Dasu, 7,100 MW-Bunji, and 740 MW-Munda dams, the Neelum-Jehlum hydropower project and the Tarbela extension project. We are also pursing the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline, Casa-1000 and the TAPI gas project as well”.
He also claimed that the Thar-coal project would be the key to ensure energy security in the country for 300 years.
Commenting on Balochistan, the premier said that through the 7th NFC (National Finance Commission) Award, the share of province in the national divisible pool has been increased from 5.1to 9.09 per cent.
He also stated that youth of Balochistan have also been recruited in the security forces.
Taking credit of the achievements, Gilani said the country’s foreign exchange reserves had gone up to $18 billion and exports had crossed the $25 billion mark for the first time in the country’s history.
He further said that remittances had registered a phenomenal growth from a mere $4 billion to $12 billion under the Pakistan Remittances Initiative Scheme (PRIS).
