Egyptian actors are a mixed up bunch and while the people of Egypt have voted in Mohammed Mursi for the next president, the stars are still undecided about the Muslim Brotherhood man. Rania Youssef previously said nothing would make her vote MB as, for her;
Egypt was and is a secular country. But for actor Ahmed Eid, Mursi’s victory is proof that the revolution was a success.
According to MBC.net, Eid has called on Morsi to work towards making Egypt a safe and secure place to live in. The actor said that Egyptian stars fear Morsi because he is a member of the Muslim Brotherhood, who is seen as anti creativity and entertainment
but he’s convinced Mursi will do a good job as president.
Eid went one step further to ask that Mursi be given all privileges stated in the constitution: not just empty wishes as SCAF have already been chipping away at the president’s power. The usually outspoken Egyptian belly dancer and actress Lucy has so far
refused to comment on Mursi’s victory other than to say she’d like everyone respect her freedom of creativity. Let’s hope Mursi is a fan of the hip wiggling tradition.
