Islamabad: (Tuesday, June 19, 2012) Pakistan Peoples’ Party has called for a parliamentary party meeting tomorrow to discuss the Yousuf Raza Gilani’s disqualification as Prime Minster by the Supreme Court today.
The announcement for this apex level party meeting was made by the PPP General Secretary Jehangir Badar who was accompanied by Qamar Zaman Kaira and Raja Pervez Ashraf on the moment. All three party leaders were addressing a press
conference here today after the PPP Central Executive Committee meeting was deemed over.
Responding to a question whether the Federal Cabinet still existed or not, Badar said that Cabinet stood dissolved after Gilani’s disqualification. He said, “Anywhere in the world wherever the PM is gone the Cabinet is gone.”
Qamar Zaman Kaira said that the PPP had reservations over the Supreme Court’s decision, however, he advised the party workers to observe patience and not to engage in any sort of protests.
He further said that the PPP will further decide on its course of action after consulting with its coalition partners.
Raja Pervez Ashraf said that the democratic process would continue without interruption and the PPP would continue to play its role in the greater interest of the country.
Hinting towards the fact that a final decision on PPP’s next line of action will be taken by the President Asif Ali Zardari, he said that the CEC has given him the mandate to do so. He said, “He (President Zardari) will do everything
that is in the interest of the country, its parliament and democracy.”
