Islamabad: (Tuesday, June 19, 2012) Following the Supreme Court’s detailed verdict here today rendering Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani disqualified, Pakistan Peoples’ Party is likely to put Makhdoom Shahabuddin or Chaudhry Ahmed
Mukhtar into the saddle for rest of its tenure.
While hearing the appeal filed by the former Prime Minister Gilani in the National Assembly Speaker’s ruling case, the Supreme Court declared him disqualified since April 26 – the court’s previous verdict on the matter.
The PPP, which has initially agreed to accept the PM disqualification, is mulling over new names for the premiership in a meeting of the coalition partners.
Makhdoom Shahabuddin is Member National Assembly from Rahim Yar Khan, and is currently holding the portfolio of ministry of Textile. Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar, the former minister for defence is currently holding the portfolio of
ministry of Water and Power.
