Islamabad: (Tuesday, June 19, 2012) Pakistan Peoples’ Party has accepted the Supreme Court’s verdict rendering Yousuf Raza Gilani disqualified as Prime Minister.
The decision to accept the apex court ruling was taken after the party’s Central Executive Committee (CEC) meeting that took place at the presidency immediately after the court’s decision.
According to the sources closely watching the development within the party, the PPP will put forward the new names for premiership following the coalition partners meeting scheduled for today night.
Initially, names of Makhdoom Shahabuddin and Ahmed Mukhtar are being considered as potential candidates to be put into the saddle for rest of the PPP led government’s tenure. However, a final decision in this regard will be taken
in today’s meeting.
Moreover, the PPP has also decided to file a review petition against the decision in the Supreme Court. In order to review and discuss the court’s verdict in detail, the party has also convened the PPP Parliamentary Party meeting
tomorrow.
