Microsoft finally launches Windows-based tablets catering to both iPad- and Amazon-dominated segments – Part 4

The most amazing part of the new tablets is cover-cum-keyboard, that is innovative on Microsoft’s part. I cannot fathom the notion that why Apple or other tablet makers were not able to come up with such a thing that would essentially turn the device into a full-on laptop.
The new keyboards come in two iterations, Touch Cover and Type Cover. The former is 3mm thin, touch-sensitive full QWERTY keyboard that folds to a screen shield and unfolds to a laptop-like keyboard.
The latter is a 5mm physical QWERTY keyboard that also has a track pad, though it seems unnecessary for Windows 8 that is mostly designed around touch screen interaction.
Both keyboards turnoff when folded back to the screen, thanks to the accelerometer built inside the peripherals.
There is a kick-stand at the rear of the tablet that comes very handy while watching a movie or typing an email. The HTC EVO-inspired kick-stand elevates the tablet to 60 degrees from ground up.
Typing lengthy texts on a tablet, be it iPad or Transformer Pad. The capacitive virtual keyboards are hard to get bearings on and this is where docks and keyboard peripherals come in.
Microsoft has changed the way tablets were used before. Now, the magnetically attached cover serves the purpose and does not deteriorate the aesthetics, still keeping it a tablet.
Conclusion
Though the Windows-makers have developed the much anticipated tablet that brings looks, speed and portability inside the same chassis, tablet users will still dither to purchase the new device. The market has thing for Microsoft’s mobile devices.
It will take some time to find its footing in the ground but that time seems to be short as compared to the Windows Phone.
It is light weight even with a heavy duty processor and Magnesium covering and for the specs is slim as well. However, the Pro is design for namesake working and it might not permanent home in the consumer market. Perhaps it is designed for enterprise market that is exponentially accepting the new technology with a warm welcome.
