Fiza Gilani likely to contest from her father’s seat: Sources

Multan: (Wednesday, June 20, 2012) Fiza Gilani, the daughter of disqualified Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, is likely to contest the by-elections from her father’s seat NA 151 Multan.

According to the sources, the final decision regarding Fiza chipping in to contest for her father’s vacated seat is not final yet, however, the option is being mulled over. Gilani also has two other sons, Qadir Gilani, who is an
MPA form Rahim Yar Khan and Ali Musa Gilani who was also recently elected as member National Assembly of Shah Mahmood Qureshi’s seat.

The NA 151 seat has been left vacant after the Supreme Court’s verdict rendered Gilani disqualified for the post of Prime Minister as well as MNA on Tuesday. According to the ruling, he is not eligible to contest elections for
five years.

The sources close to the former PM claim that it is still not finalized as to who will contest for the seat from Pakistan Peoples’ Party.

Sikandar Bosan, another potential candidate for the seat, had shifted his allegiance from PML Q to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI), however, he had decided to boycott the elections.

While talking to the journalists today, Bosan said that he will not leave the constituency empty, and either he or his brother will contest elections on this seat.

Malik Ishaq Bucha of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) has also decided to contest on the seat vacated by Gilani.
