Pakistan U-22 off to Saudi Arabia after sensational win
Thursday, June 21st, 2012 5:11:33 by Shahrukh SohailThe Green Shirts are set to take part in the U-22 AFC Qualifiers in Riyadh after a superb preparatory tour of Bahrain.
Zavisa Milosavljevic’s men were able to draw with the Bahraini U-22’s before trouncing Al Hala Football Club 3-1.
Confidence in the camp has never been higher and although they are pitted in a tough group, many are expecting the team to cause a major upset. However none are more optimistic than the coach, who is hoping for a true display of talent from the players this
time around.
“We spent some productive days in Bahrain and will leave for our next station in Saudi Arabia tomorrow.”
Though the preparations have gone brilliantly, the Serbian was wary of the threat of other teams, whom he claims have practiced more than the Green Kickers.
“I cannot say that we are absolutely ready as other teams may have also prepared well for the task but the way our boys have made improvement shows that they are capable to produce productive results in the qualifiers.”
“We have started scoring goals and it shows that our finishing is not weak,” Zavisa was quoted as saying.
Pakistan now play Saudi Arabia in their first game in Riyadh on the 23rd of June.
