Rebecca Adlington and Siobhan-Marie O’Connor win gold medals – 2012 British GAS ASA Nationals

Rebecca Adlington and Siobhan-Marie O’Connor won gold medals of the Women’s 200m freestyle and 200m Individual Medley (IM) respectively on opening day of the 2012 British GAS ASA Nationals in Sheffield, England.

Adlington demonstrate her stupendous efforts in the four-lap event and faced no trouble in occupying gold medal of the discipline. Her astounding pace placed her considerably ahead of her opponents as she tapped the finishing wall with a wonderful timing
of 1 minute and 58.68 seconds.

The gold medallist was followed by Rebecca Turner of Co Sheffield, who stayed nearly half body length behind and settled on the finishing end as second position holder with a nice effort of 1 minute and 59.11 seconds.

The silver medallist remained just 0.03 seconds faster from Lucy Ellis of StirlingSwim, who captured bronze medal of the event by producing a time of 1 minute and 59.14 seconds.

Fourth position of the discipline was secured by Jazmin Carlin of Swansea Perf, who remained one body length apart and hit the finishing end with the timing of 2 minutes and 00.01 seconds.

Subsequently, O’Connor dominated the playoff of IM discipline and reached the podium for gold medal. With her epic pace, she stifled hopes of her challengers and sprinted her way towards the finishing wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 11.86 seconds.

The champion was followed by her teammate, Stacey Tadd, who remained almost four seconds apart and cruised her way towards the finishing wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 15.39 seconds for silver medal.

The silver medallist was followed by Lucy Spencer of Co Sheffield, who was only 0.05 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and made her way to the finishing end with an effort of 2 minutes and 15.44 seconds for third position.

Fourth pot of the discipline was secured by Danielle Lowe of Millfield, who suffered a deficit of only 0.06 seconds and cruised her way towards the finishing end with the timing of 2 minutes and 15.50 seconds.

Furthermore, the session ended after the completion of all listed events.
