Samsung Galaxy SIII (2012): Full Review – Part 3

The company has jammed up 1280×720 pixels in the 4.8-inch (diagonally) capacitive touch screen that is extremely sensitive, thanks to the Gorilla Glass 2 shielding it. Moreover, there is no noticeable distance between the actual screen and the glass, giving a paper-like, natural touch feel to the use.

The left- and right-side spines are light blue in colour—in the blue version of the SIII. The left side houses a power button while the right side has a volume rocker. The bottom of the set has a micro-USB port for PC/Mac connectivity and charging. The top edge has a 3.5mm headset jack to listen to music or switch to hands-free mode.

At 5.4 inches tall and 2.8 inches wide, it’s slightly larger and thicker than the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. With 0.37-inch depth it is not the slimmest of the phones but the 4.7 ounces of weight does make it the lightest with such a big footprint.

Samsung has been pushing on the line of protruding into the tablet territory. The 5.3-inch Galaxy Note is one of the examples. Galaxy Nexus is another example and now the SIII. However, so far the experiments on bigger screens have been successful for the company; Note sold 5 million of its units, worldwide.

The big footprint has been quite a problem for those who have small handprint. However, the thin bezel does the trick in its use. Though you won’t be able to use the phone with a single hand, its grip and feather-weight body cover a lot of the land in that regard.
