NFC works three-fold in the new SIII. There is Android’s own Android Beam that lets the users to share and transfer web pages, contact details and bookmarks to other NFC enabled devices.
Samsung’s S-Beam takes the technology a step further. With S-Beam, the user is able to transfer multimedia files to other NFC phone. Just join the backs of both phones and tap on the content to send.
The transfer, though fast, depends on the size of the file. It might transfer bigger files via WiFi.
The third application of the NFC is the electronic transactions. Google Wallet is pre-installed in the SIII that stores sensitive information of credit/debit/loyalty cards and with a tap of the device makes transaction with an NFC-enable device.
GroupCast, which you can use as a presentation service, uses AllShare Play. It takes seven steps (including a password and PIN number) to set up the share, but once you do, you can share a folder — like slides or photos — across all phones you’ve invited into the GroupCast. Any device can control the screens, and annotate with pen strokes that fade after a few seconds. Samsung should let the GroupCast leader lock it down.
