Samsung Galaxy SIII (2012): Full Review – Part 6
Friday, June 22nd, 2012 5:56:52 by Usman KhalidBuddy Photo Share is a neat optional in-camera feature that can e-mail or text a freshly shot photo to the person you tag in it. Photos show up in a “received” folder in the recipient’s gallery.
ShareShot is a camera shooting mode that uses Wi-Fi Direct in the background to automatically send photos to your friends as you shoot them, instead of e-mailing them after the fact. Multiple people can get in on the deal — so long as they’re within about 100 yards, about the length of a football field. Photos also appear in the gallery. You lose ShareShot when you switch shooting modes.
S-Voice is the biggest throwback in the SIII. Samsung tried to answer Appleās Siri in iOS, and where it was a good effort to bring a voice assistant to the premium handset, it was a not as efficient as Siri. Siri has its own shortcomings but S-Voice was not only less responsive to commands, it did not recognize most of them. Vlingo powers S Voice on the listening and interpretation front (Siri uses Nuance), and sources answers from databases like Wolfram Alpha.
Final Take
Even if its S-Voice is sloppy or it does not have the sharpest screen resolution, it still has the best combination of almost every latest technology in the slim 0.37-inch body and only weighs 4.7 ounces. Moreover, the price of the globally unlocked and contract handsets is fairly set.
In a nutshell, the SIII is never a revolutionary device but is the best combination of all the latest and greatest.
