Rawalpindi – June 23, 2012: National Engineering Robotics Contest 2012 was organized by NUST, STEM Career Program-HEC and Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF) at the College of Electrical & Mechanical Engineering (EME) today Rawalpindi.
Dr. Younus Javed, the Dean of Academics in his opening address, welcomed all the teams and honorable guests. He stressed that co- and extra-curricular activities play a very important role in building a sound personality and a
successful human being. He emphasized on the participants that all competitions of human activities are focused for improvements and winning/losing is a byproduct. This is how we will grow as a nation.
Brigadier Dr. Javaid Iqbal, the Head of Mechatronics Department and Chief Organizer of the contest, informed that more than 170 teams from different Engineering Universities, Colleges and Institutes from all over the country registered
for the qualifying round.
Major General Obaid Bin Zakria, HI(M), Commandant College of Electrical & Mechanical Engineering in his address welcomed everyone to the National Engineering Robotics Contest 2012, he appreciated how the number of participants
had grown over the years and the standard of the competition has risen.
At the end of the ceremony the Chief Guest Dr. Muhammad Akram Sheikh (HI), gave away the prizes to the winning teams of “National Engineering Robotic Contest 2012” (NERC).
In his address the Honorable Chief Guest, Dr. Muhammad Akram Sheikh while complimenting the efforts taken up so vigorously by NUST College of E&ME called “National Engineering Robotics Contest” a one of a kind platform providing
the engineering students of Pakistan with an opportunity to get the complete engineering experience. He said that “Seeing such a huge turnout and the students working with such dedication on one of the most sophisticated field engineering has to offer, I can
see the potential of our future engineers”.
While acknowledging the importance of Mechatronics engineering he commented “Since every machine these days is a blend of several technologies, Mechatronics Engineering as a new discipline has found widespread acceptance in the
world, including a large number of developing countries”.

Being a part of College of EME-NUST, I would like to tell you that we are organizing 11th National Engineering Robotics Contest 2013.
Every year, hundreds of robots from institutions nation-wide gather at the College of E&ME to participate in the National Engineering Robotics Contest (NERC). The Contest provides a platform to students to come forth with novel engineering ideas. NERC celebrated its 10th Anniversary last year in which over 170 teams registered.
