Islamabad: (Saturday, June 23, 2012) Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, immediately after taking oath of his post, has taken notice of the persistent loadshedding and in order to tackle the issue, has called for a conference on
energy crisis.
Members of the cabinet’s energy committee and other concerned authorities will also participate in this energy conference.
Earlier, after Yousuf Raza Gilani’s disqualification by the Supreme Court on contempt of court case, Pervaiz Ashraf was elected as the 23rd prime minister of the country by the Parliament on Friday.
The new Prime Minister is accused of taking kickbacks in the rental power projects as well as in buying property in London from money earned through corruption in various scams for which he is currently defending himself in the
Supreme Court. Due to appearing in these cases, Ashraf’s name is also in the exit control list and he cannot leave the country without prior approval of the court.
