Chief Justice warns politicians against anti-constitutional laws
Islamabad: (Sunday, June 24, 2012) Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry said here today that the parliament could not do legislation that is in clash with the constitution.
Addressing a youth delegation of Youth Parliament that invited him here, the Chief Justice said that in case the Parliament drafts laws that are against the provisions of the Constitution, the Supreme Court has the option to review
the same.
He said, “The objective of such a review by the Supreme Court is to put a check on misuse of authority.”
Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry said all the state institutions were functioning independently within the parameters of the Constitutional.
He described the members of Youth Parliament as a future of the nation and told them that the Constitution was such document that provides answers to all the questions.
