Karachi: (Saturday, June 23, 2012) Amid the indiscriminate shooting incidents, target killing has become rife in the once economic hub of Pakistan – Karachi. In last 24-hours alone, the city has observed three people falling prey
to the phenomenon, while other ten have been injured.
According to SSP South, Asif Ijaz Shaikh, police, in an attempt to arrest the rampant violence, has apprehended no less than 37 suspects who were bearing all sorts of handheld firearms by the time of their arrest.
Police sources told the journalists that extortionists, target killers and street criminals were among the suspects locked behind the bars in the last 24 hours.
The firearms recovered from the malefactors included a couple of pump action shotguns, two AK-47s, 17 pistols, and 79 bullets, the sources added.
