Tuesday, June 26th, 2012 5:00:15 by Usman KhalidThe TF700 has the same weight as the TF201 at 1.32 pounds. At 0.33 inches it is a tad thicker than the Prime, which measures 0.32 inches in breadth. However, that is negligible price one has to pay for best screen in Android tablets. TF201 has a screen resolution of 1280×800 pixels.
Hardware
Transformer series makes the difference for what comes under the hood. It packs a Tegra 3 quad-core processor clocked at 1.6 GHzwith 1 GB of RAM. This makes it the third iteration in the Asus line of tablets to have a quad-core processor. In addition, the memory has been upgraded to DDR3 clocked at 1.6 GHz as compared to the DDR2 RAM Prime dwelled on.
The graphics have been improved as well. It uses a revamped graphics card to provide the required juice for sharp screen.
The screen is protected with Gorilla Glass and is capacitive touch sensitive. The sensitivity has been increased to such extent that the users can write on it with fingers akin to a paper-pencil combination. However, there are styluses available in the market with a broad tip to right, draw and take notes on the device.
The Tegra 3 processor makes way for intensive graphics games to be played on new device. Rapitide GP runs smoothly on it and boasts Tegra 3-compatible on-screen splash effects.
GPS, WiFI, Bluetooth 3.0+EDR, a gyroscope, and an accelerometer are standard issue in all the Asus tablets and TF700 is not an exception to the rule. However, GPS has eradicated much of reception issue with the plastic covering on the top.
The new tablet comes in the same two denominations with respect to the storage capacity, 16 GB and 32 GB. Hopefully, the prices will remain the same as well or better yet lowered down a bit.
