Not a single tablet has the processing flexibility as the Transformer series. All the new tablets since the Prime come with a quad-core processor that can be adjusted to three modes of operations, Normal, Balanced and Power Saver. It uses two, three or four cores at 1.7 GHz clock speed in the Balance Mode, two cores in Power Saver. The processing goes to full blast in the normal mode.
Though Apple has the longest battery life out there in the market, it still does not have the processing flexibility as Transformer that could elongate the battery life to more than 10 hours easily.
Due to the reason TF700 has a sharp screen; the battery life has been taxed by an hour or so. But the optional $150 dock pulls it through nine hours of work with ease.
The new tablet has a sharp display of 1,920×1,200-pixel resolution. This resolution has only been seen in Acer Iconia Tab A700. However, the inclusion of more pixels has a little effect on videos and menus. The text beneath the icons does not make a loud shout but when compared side-by-side with Prime, the difference is apparent.
The major difference comes in the web pages and books. The user will observe near-to paper-like display on web pages and text books right off the bat. Even drawing and writing on the screen is better fun.
TF700 comes pre-installed with Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich, making it the second tablet from Asus to have latest version of the mobile operating system from Google.
However, ICS does not take full advantage of new screen on Transformer Pad TF700 because of the lack such applications. However, the frame rate is better than the Prime and Pad TF300.
Final Take
If the new TF700 is priced the same as TF300, it would be a steal. The new screen makes all the difference and the processing flexibility is the signature feature from Asus. Transformer tablets are becoming ubiquitous in the market and TF 700 is another step in bring huge sales figures to the company.
