Chief of Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PKMAP), Mehmood Khan Achakzai has stressed for a new social contract between major national stakeholders.

Addressing a public gathering, he said that this was quite imperative, in view of constant threatening global gestures that rulers, politicians, armed forces and intelligence agencies of the country should evolve such a social contract.

“This should end the interference of armed forces and intelligence agencies in Country’s affairs” he stated, adding that all the natural resources should be reverted to the Provinces having them.

He also stressed on provision of full autonomy for federating units, which would ensure the integrity of Federation, ensuring progress and development.

He strongly berated the fact that country’s affairs had come to a degrading level that strict decisions and steps would have to be taken to end all kinds of corruption, while death sentence for all kinds of graft should be enforced.

He honed the logic that the Country could not function without strengthening of democracy, and cautioned that 45 countries at the time of forming of UN, had swelled to 265; all of which had come in existence due to discrimination meted out to various united nationalities.

He also highlighted the glorious past of Pakhtuns of yore, with their rule in India spanning over a period of 350 years.

“This should be proof enough that Pakhtuns always held regard and respect for other nationalities with equality”, he resolved.

“We do not want to dismember Pakistan, since it is a country housing Baloch, Pakhtuns, Punjabis, Seraiki and Sindhis, yet , while we respect the rights of all federating units , we cannot afford to see the rights of Pakhtuns being compromised “he declared.

He said that Pakhtuns covered an area of 1, 50,000 sq miles, stretching from Peshawar to Attock and from Chaman to Sibi, all of which belonged to Pakhtuns and their coming generations.

He stressed that (Baloch) Pakhtuns should be given equal rights, like those of Baloch, with equal powers at provincial and all levels.

He strongly dispelled the prevailing notion that Pakhtuns were settlers in Province of Balochistan, citing the British Raj Gazetteer which noted that “during 1905, only 656 Baloch and 6,900 Brahavis existed, compared to 66,000 Pakhtuns”.
