Karachi: (Wednesday, June 27, 2012) In order to do its part of confidence building measures, Pakistan has released 311 Indian fishermen including 21 young prisoners lodged in Karachi jail.
According to the sources at District Malir jail, out of a total of 315 prisoners at the jail, about 311 have been released. Out of rest of the four prisoners, three are still serving their sentence, while one is not in a good health.
While rest of the prisoners were kept at District Jail Malir, the 21 juvenile prisoners were lodged in the Youthful Offenders’ School near the Karachi Central Jail.
After releasing 311 Indian prisoners, the total number of Indian prisoners in Malir jail would be 127, confirmed the official jail sources on Monday.
After completing the due process, the Indian prisoners were released today at 8:00’O clock in the morning and they were sent to Wagha border where from they would be handed over to Indian authorities.
Sindh Law minister Ayaz Soomro, while addressing at a function at Youthful Offenders’ School that Indian Prisoners including Juveniles would be sent back home. He also said that it was expected of India to reciprocate and release
Pakistani fishermen.
