The newly elected Prime Minister of the country Raja Pervez Ashraf has asked both the Ministry of Water as well as Power to collect all outstanding dues related to Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA). According to the instructions of the Prime
Minister, these dues are to be collected from the entire provincial as well as the federal government of the country. Not only that, the private sector also comes under the collection category.
The Prime Minister of Pakistan Raja Pervez Ashraf also said that this outstanding dues collection will be done from all the groups named without any discrimination between them. The Prime Minister of Pakistan also added that in the event that a default arises
from any of the government departments, the Ministry of Finance should look into deducting the required amount of outstanding dues from the federal adjuster.
Prime Minister of Pakistan Raja Pervez Ashraf gave these instructions during the first cabinet session that he chaired in Islamabad. He communicated it to the cabinet ministers present that the Ministry of Petroleum had already been asked by him to make
certain that a total of 28,000 ton of furnace oil is being supplied to the power sector of the country on an uninterrupted basis. According to the Prime Minister of Pakistan Raja Pervez Ashraf, the act will ensure the addition of a total of 1200 MW of electricity
to the National Grid System of the country.
Having said that, the Prime Minister of Pakistan Raja Pervez Ashraf added that the power outages were affecting the agricultural as well as industrial sectors of the country to a vast extent.
Prime Minister of Pakistan Raja Pervez Ashraf made the following statements regarding the former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Yousuf Raza Gilani, “In my opinion, the policy of my martyred leaders, was followed by him. We will continue to seek his guidance,
as we move on. Pakistan People’s Party strongly believes that politics of confrontation should be shunned for which all democratic forces need to show sincerity of purpose, prudence and maturity, allowing space to their opponents. We have to do something special
to pull the nation out of dejection and galvanize them into activity and forward movement.”
