Following the release of Iron Maiden’s third studio album, Bruce Dickinson started to face some difficulties in the band, as he was not credited to any of the song-writing, or compositions. However, he still remained on board, and continued to work his magic through his strong vocals.
The band went out on a world tour for the second time in their history, naming it ‘The Beast on the Road’. They visited North America, Japan, Australia and Europe, which also included a major appearance at the Reading Festival.
‘The Number of the Beast’ engraved a new but successful chapter in the band’s history, as the album went on to sell over 14 million copies worldwide, and the English band’s future was cemented.
In December 1982, Iron Maiden drummer Clive Burr parted ways due to personal issues, and Nicko McBrain took over his place behind the drums.
The band released their fourth studio album, Piece of Mind, in 1983, which touched the No. 3 spot in the UK. The record included successful hits, The Trooper and Flight of Icarus.
In the following year after the successful supporting tours of ‘Piece of Mind’, the band released ‘Powerslave’, which included ‘2 Minutes to Midnight’, Aces High’ and ‘Rime of the Ancient Mariner’ (a 13-minute long single based on Samuel Taylor Coleridge’s poem).
